Like Sherlock, I go in for ‘very desultory and eccentric’ readings. I read a lot. Sometimes I get stale as a reader. The pleasure somehow diminished. Then I have to wait until I find a book that will help me to fall in love again with reading. And the last book to do just that is Blood Knots, a memoir of fishing and friendship by Luke Jennings. An absolute belter. You don’t have to have fished to enjoy it.
